For the past week, news reports and social media have been buzzing about Pokémon Go, a revamped mobile version of 90s game. If you step outside, you will most likely see people walking about looking at their phones and getting excited when they find a character.

Pokémon Go is not just for kids: people of all ages are downloading the free app and joining the Pokémon search. The game is great for older adults, and here are some reasons why.

  1. It keeps your mind active. The game is a lot of fun, and it uses memory and problem solving, as well as hand-eye coordination.
  2. It helps keep you connected with the younger generation. What is better than running around outside with your grandkids and being interested in the same thing? This video game is something that the whusing cell phone for appole family can enjoy together.
  3. You meet people. The GPS feature of the game leads people to specific locations and it is a great way to make new connections.
  4. Exercise! Pokémon Go is a great incentive to a more active lifestyle. To play this game, you must get up, search for and catch the characters while you’re walking around looking for them, you are exercising. You probably won’t even realize it due to the excitement of searching for and then catching one.

Users should always be aware of their surroundings and use common sense while searching. Use caution while walking and looking down at your phone.  It is also a good idea to explore with another person. One other thing to think of is your phone battery. This game does drain the battery.  So have fun, be safe and happy hunting!
